Tree Stumps: Friend OR foe

The Dangers of Tree Stumps

Do you have tree stumps hanging around in your yard? They might not seem like a big deal, but they can cause more than a few headaches:

  • Tripping Hazards: Stumps can be easy to trip over, especially in dim light or if they're hidden by grass.
  • Pest Magnet: They attract pests like termites and ants, which can spread to other trees and even your home.
  • Yard Work Woes: Trying to mow around stumps is a pain and can mess up your lawn equipment.
  • Looks Matter: Stumps aren't exactly eye candy—they can bring down your yard's appearance and curb appeal.

Getting rid of those stumps will help keep your yard safe, tidy, and pest-free!

Our Process

Step 1: Evaluate your needs.

Many things matter when we look at stump grinding.  The size of stump is just as important as much as the type of tree it belonged to.  Evaluating your exact needs is critical for planning and scheduling your stump grinding services.

Step 2: Schedule your service.

We will talk about time required and plan the best day for services.  Weekends often are the best time so you can evaluate our services when they are complete.

Step 3: Have your underground utilities marked.

Modern neighborhoods are littered with underground pipes, powerlines, and who knows what else.  Knowing what is there is important to protect you, your family and your property.  Prior to services, if necessary we will contact the diggers hotline to mark your yard.  Throughout our process we may also use a metal detector so we can avoid any hazards along the way.

Step 4: Set Up

Day of we will come to your home with our gear, ready to rock!  Before we get too deep, we must set up our work site.

  • Setting up our work perimeter.
  • Putting up protective barriers to reduce damage or injury from flying debris.
  • Bring out our equipment, including other safety gear such as helmets, gloves and first aid kit.
  • Then we are ready to start!

Step 5: Time to Grind

We ask that during the process of our work, you, your family and pets remain away from the work area.

  • We use an attachment for our mini skid steer that allows us to be efficient while getting into tight places.
  • The size is also great for taking out bushes and roots.
  • If need be we have access to larger grinders.

Step 6: Clean Up

After we have you evaluate our services, we can wrap up our services one of 3 ways:

  • Leave the shavings and everything for you to complete filling of the hole.
  • Clean up the shavings and all other debris from the area.
  • Clean up some of the shavings, mix in soil and put down grass seed OR sod over the area.
